Biography
Joe Grady Tuck is a 7th generation Bastrop County resident, who served 2 terms as the elected District Attorney of the 216th Judicial District of Texas, which is comprised of six counties. At the time of his election in 1972 at the age of 26, Joe Grady was the youngest elected prosecutor in the country, and the State's only Republican DA. Prior to his election, Joe Grady worked as a staff member for the Republican party in both Texas and Colorado. Thereafter he was appointed to a post in the Nixon Administration in Washington, D.C., before working for Republican Congressman Bill Archer of Houston who was Chair of the Ways and Means Committee.
Joe Grady was the co-founder of Cable Advertising Systems, Inc. that initiated the sale of local advertising on cable networks and took that company public. He was also the correspondent co-founder of the Bank of Kerrville. In Bastrop, he served on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bastrop County and Upstart Inc. a non-profit that televised city meetings and promoted regional cultural arts on local Channel 10. Active in local politics, Joe Grady is co-founder of the Development Customer Advisor Committee that meets regularly with Bastrop City Manager, Sylvia Carrillo, and serves on the Bastrop Charter Review Commission.
Joe Grady has also taught Criminal Law at Schreiner University in Kerrville, and Employment Law at the graduate school of Chapman University, in California. Joe Grady was a founding member of the Cedar Creek Rotary Club and is a current member of the Rotary Club of Bastrop County. He serves on the board of trustees of both the Bastrop Opera House and the Bastrop County Historical Society.
